How is an effective strategy created?

From the MBA in Marketing and Business Development at the University of Basel

In the course “Developing and Executing Strategies – Systematic and Impact-Oriented” with Prof. Dr. Thomas Wunder, the central focus was on how companies can develop strategies in a structured manner and successfully implement them in practice.

Participants were provided with a comprehensive overview of key concepts and methods for effective strategizing, ranging from business model development and strategy maps to balanced scorecards and strategic action programs.

The tools were directly applied and discussed as part of a continuous case study. This underscored the importance of a clearly structured strategy process for defining strategic goals, making them measurable, and effectively integrating them into the organization.

Current perspectives were also addressed: What role can Artificial Intelligence (AI) play in the strategy process, for instance in resilience analyses or to support a Strategy Office? And how can sustainability and digitalization be systematically integrated into strategic decisions?
